We're a family that raises beautiful puppies - Here's Our Story
We all take part in enjoying Hope and Destiny, our family. Courtney, my daughter, is also a part of our Hope family. She is the owner of Hank, our English springer spaniel. As of 2019, we have added a new member to our family - Dixie. When you have Spangold Retriever puppies, you have to keep one. She picked us out from the beginning. Additionally, Courtney has added Emmy to her family. Emmy is a red and white parti-color English Springer Spaniel. We will be adding AKC registered English Springer Spaniel puppies in the future. Our goal is to raise perfectly happy puppies in our home. As we are family, our dogs are family. We are devoted to our puppies and socialize daily by playing and running. Branson, our grandson, age five, plays a huge role in the socialization, as I'm sure you can guess. Since we began, we now have a second grandson, Houston who also loves all the dogs.
As we enjoy gifts, we reward our puppies with treats for their good behavior! Our first litter was paper trained at 4 1/2 weeks and doggie door/ramp trained at 6 weeks. We are in the process of training our second litter and are paper training at 3 weeks old! These puppies are amazing. The puppy breeds that are part of our Hope family are Spangold Retrievers, Springerdoodles, and AKC Springer Spaniels. You may ask why we have a hybrid combination. First, I have been a groomer for most of my life. As I have seen many retrievers and golden doodles, the required maintenance that comes with both of these dogs is sometimes overwhelming to owners. The golden retriever is a wonderful pet, but the dense shedding has always presented problems. Destiny, our retriever, is a small retriever with very little shedding, and Hank, Courtney's English springer spaniel, is also a small size with little shedding. Combining both parents' qualities has given us the sweet nature from both the retriever and the springer, and it has also allowed us the opportunity to enjoy both breeds in a lesser maintenance F1 puppy. On the other hand, Hope, our standard poodle, is hypoallergenic with no shedding and paired with Hank's coat allows us to achieve the softness of the spaniel but retain a better situation for grooming. Much time is invested in speaking with the new family and determining life style. Our dogs are part of our family and only bred if we know the puppies are going to special homes. |
What is an F1 puppy? We raise only F1 puppies. This is a case where one parent is a purebreed golden retriever and the other parent is a purebreed standard poodle or a purebreed English springer spaniel. In the first generation, the puppies will have more variation with coloration, coat type, etc, It's well known that every purebred dog breed is troubled by at least one (and usually many more), genetic or hereditary illnesses or problems. This is due to the level of inbreeding that takes place in order to keep a breed 'pure'. Available research shows that designer dog breeds, and mixed breeds, are less likely to suffer from genetic weaknesses and are generally healthier, overall, than their purebred cousins. For those people wishing to know what their puppy will turn out to be like, the most consistency comes from an F1,
